Los Angeles rocker Rocco Deluca is a star who is not used to success.

ARTIST: ROCCO DELUCA & THE BURDEN
SINGLE: COLORFUL (Ironworks)
Rocco DeLuca comes from another time and place, judging by his debut album, “I Trust You to Kill Me.” Unassuming and befuddled by the fact that he has to play music industry games to get his songs heard, this son of a blues player is truly an enigma in an industry that often turns individuality into parody. A brilliant rockumentary that explores his journey, co-starring “tour manager” Kiefer Sutherland and producer/songwriter Jude Cole, is working its way through major cities, and the story serves as great inspiration to musicians who hold integrity above commerce. Thankfully, his music is working its way to the masses via launch single “Colorful,” a fiery, appreciably organic display of his compelling, untamed vocals, lyrics that reflect vulnerability and innate skill with melody. Whether he embraces it or not, the man is a star. Not to be missed.
Being discovered can happen in unlikely ways, writes Andrew Murfett.
WHEN you’re a young musician looking for a big break, it can pay to make some friends in high places. Finding a fan in actor Kiefer Sutherland has certainly paid dividends for Rocco Deluca. Four years ago, the blues-based singer-songwriter was playing his usual Tuesday night at an Orange County bar when Sutherland, best known for his role in 24, arrived.

An Interview with Rocco DeLuca
Interview Date: August 22, 2007
We recently had a chance to catch Rocco DeLuca and The Burden during their first headlining tour. We attended the performance in Boston, but the interview with Rocco was postponed because he wasn’t feeling well. Now rested-up, he graciously took some time to speak to us via telephone.
T3M: You’re in the midst of you first headlining tour; how are things going so far?
RD: They’re going good. It’s been fun for us to be able to play a little bit longer. To see our name up on the marquee, it’s been a trip.

The tour has been amazing. Rocco and the guys are great. We’re like a big family, man. It’s just been so enjoyable. We got to party with Kiefer Sutherland in New York and in Boston last week, so it was nice.
